Meet Navid…ACL SURGERY WASN’T ENOUGH, NEUROSCIENCE WAS.

Background:

Navid tore his ACL playing jiu jitsu, underwent surgery, and completed traditional physical therapy. But despite months of conventional rehab, something still wasn’t right. He had lingering pain, limited mobility in his surgical knee, and couldn’t move the way he needed to return to his sport at full capacity.

That’s when he came to me.

“I was struggling with knee rehab, Abe took a neuroscience approach and it really helped a lot…I’m able to pull my knee back further…my strength and overall fitness have significantly improved…I like how he incorporated speed drills to get me back into athletic performance for jiu jitsu!” He mentioned what blew his mind was that we weren’t even touching my knee. “We did brain exercises…there’s this game called Stroop…a decision-making game that really improved my mobility!”

The Details:

After months of conventional rehab, Navid was stuck:

  • Persistent knee pain (5/10) during movement
  • Restricted mobility compared to his good leg
  • Uneven squat depth—favoring his non-surgical side
  • Unable to return to jiu jitsu at full capacity

Traditional rehab had treated his knee, but nobody addressed the neurological component—his brain’s ability to control the joint.

The Breakthrough – Sessions 1 & 2:

Using targeted brain-based exercises (Stroop test for motor control), we saw immediate results:

10 minutes after neurological training:

  • Knee mobility matched his good leg
  • Pain dropped from 5/10 to 0/10
  • Squat depth became even and symmetrical
  • Full range of motion restored

No stretching. Just better neurological input.

The Transformation – Less Than 2 Months:

Once we unlocked his brain’s control over the knee, everything changed:

Full mobility restored – matching and exceeding pre-injury levels
Lost 7 lbs fat, gained 8 lbs muscle
Dropped 4% body fat
Sport-specific training – jiu jitsu movements, speed work, change of direction
Back to jiu jitsu stronger and more confident than before the injury

The Method:

We didn’t just rehab Navid’s knee—we optimized his entire system:

  • Brain-first neurological training for motor control
  • Progressive strength training (squats, deadlifts, lunges)
  • Sport-specific jiu jitsu movement patterns
  • Body composition optimization through nutrition and training

ACL surgery reconstructs the ligament. Traditional PT strengthens the muscles. But neither addresses the brain’s ability to control the joint.

Navid’s mobility breakthrough in 10 minutes proved what I’ve seen thousands of times: when you fix the neurological input, the body responds immediately.

Traditional rehab treats the knee. We trained his brain to control the knee—and got him back to elite performance for his sport.
